Classic Olsen Twins Movies Are Coming to Hulu

[ad_1]

The Olsen Twins are coming back. Hulu has revealed they will begin streaming three of the twin sibling’s classic movies from the late 1990s. Billboard Dad (1998), Passport to Paris (1999), and Switching Goals (1999) will all be available in May to current Hulu subscribers. The twins got their start with acting in Full House as Michelle Tanner, which debuted in 1987 when Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were only 6-months old. The two stayed on the show until it ended in 1995, but they continued acting in their own movies and shows until 2012 when they retired from the entertainment business.

Billboard Dad focuses on the Olsen Twins as they play matchmaker for their widowed father, Tyler, who is played by Tom Amandes. They set up a billboard with his face on it and he begins to get a lot of attention from the opposite sex. Mark-Kate plays Tess, a member of the high diving team, while Ashley plays Emily, a surfer girl. The movie currently holds a 46% user rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is currently higher than critic rating for the latest Hellboy remake.

Passport to Paris finds the Olsen Twins playing Melanie and Allyson Porter, who are also identical twins. It’s an international adventure that takes the girls to go visit their diplomat grandfather in Paris. This one has a slightly better rating on Rotten Tomatoes at 50%. Last but not least is Switching Goals, where the twins play Sam and Emma Stanton, who are placed on opposing soccer teams. They end up swapping identities to prove how similar they really are. It currently has a 47% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Hulu has not announced if they will be delving deeper into the Olsen Twins vaults to bring out other classics, such as their big screen debut It Takes Two or New York Minute, but if the response is positive for the first three, we might end up getting them all. New York Minute marks the last time the twins starred together on the big screen and it was the last project released by their Dualstar Entertainment company. The Dualstar brand made the twins some of the richest women in the world. In 2007, they were listed at number eleven on a Forbes “Celebrity 100” for having an estimated net worth of $100 million.

Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen famously retired from the entertainment business in 2012 to launch their fashion career. The New York Times declared Mary-Kate to be a fashion icon for pioneering her signature “homeless” look, which took off in a major way. The two have been so busy with their new career that they did not take out any time to star in Netflix’s Fuller House with the rest of their fellow Full House castmates. Regardless, the twins are back on the small screen with Hulu. You can stream Billboard Dad, Passport to Paris, and Switching Goals starting May 1st.

2019 Summer Movie Montage Trailer Will Get You Hyped and Ready

[ad_1]

The summer movie season is very nearly upon us and this 2019 blockbuster movies montage trailer is the perfect way to get amped up for what’s coming our way in the near future. In recent years, Hollywood has become more franchise obsessed than ever. In some ways, for certain moviegoers, that’s been a very good thing. For that particular brand of movie lover, the next few months are going to (hopefully) be heavenly and this video highlights every single reason why.

This video was put together by YouTube user ANONymous and it includes every major blockbuster coming out from now till August. This includes Dark Phoenix, Avengers: Endgame, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Men In Black: International, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, The Lion King, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Aladdin, Toy Story 4, Detective Pikachu, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Artemis Fowl and Hobbs and Shaw. So yeah, it’s a lot to process and, since MoviePass isn’t what it used to be, this means a lot of us are going to be spending a lot of spare dough at the box office this summer.

Avengers: Endgame comes out next week and that more or less is going to kick off what we consider the summer blockbuster movie season. Even though summer doesn’t technically start for a couple of months, studios have expanded the season for big franchise tentpole projects in order to accommodate the growing number of releases that fit such a bill. The trailer kicks off with a bit of dialogue between Black Widow and Captain America from the Avengers: Endgame trailer before cutting to a huge action montage comprised of shots from all of these various titles. It’s a lot to take in all at once.

One thing this video does a good job of highlighting above all else is just how good of a year it’s going to be for Disney. They have Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King, Aladdin, Toy Story 4 and technically Dark Phoenix, since the Fox merger is now complete, all coming out during this frame. At least a few of those movies have a very good shot at crossing the $1 billion mark. It’s also worth pointing out that, though Spider-Man: Far From Home takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that box office goes to Sony, so that’s not actually Disney money at the end of the day.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is, in some ways, the real outlier here, as it’s not connected to a franchise or any pre-existing IP. Instead, this one comes from the mind of Quentin Tarantino and is positioned as one of the most anticipated summer releases of 2019. We’ve also got plenty of footage from Godzilla: King of the Monsters in there, which could give any of these movies a run for its money, in terms of being the most epic movie of the summer. Overall, there’s a lot to look forward to and this is a nice way to highlight all of it. Be sure to check out the video from the ANONymous YouTube channel below.

Clint Eastwood Circles Back to Direct Richard Jewell Biopic for Disney

[ad_1]

Clint Eastwood is reportedly in talks to helm The Ballad of Richard Jewell for Disney. The project had been in development at Fox and it looks like it may be one of the movies Disney intends on making. The studio just squashed Mouse Guard, which was also in development at Fox before the acquisition, two weeks before production was expected to start, putting the cast and crew out of work. With that being said, Mouse Guard is now being shopped to other studios.

This isn’t the first time Clint Eastwood’s name has been attached to The Ballad of Richard Jewell. He previously showed interest to direct back when the movie was still at Fox and it seems he will take it on with Disney if all goes well. Jonah Hill was at one time attached to play Jewell, while Leonardo DiCaprio was going to play the character’s lawyer and family friend. It isn’t clear who will star in the movie now, which was written by Billy Ray (Captain Phillips). The movie is based on a Vanity Fair article of the same name.

Richard Jewell was a security guard who found a suspicious package on the grounds of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. The package ended up being a bomb and Jewell saved the lives of many people by locating it and getting it to authorities in a timely manner. However, after the events, Jewell was looked at as a possible suspect and the news ended up becoming public. Jewell’s life was turned upside down and even though he was proven to be innocent, his life continued a downward spiral. He eventually died of heart failure a few years later at the age of 44.

Taking on The Ballad of Richard Jewell seems like a project tailor-made for Clint Eastwood. The director has been into making movies about real-life people as of late. Sully, 15:17 to Paris, American Sniper, and The Mule are all based on real people. The Richard Jewell story is certainly worthy of a big screen adaptation and is fitting in today’s fake news culture and how it only takes one little thing to derail and ruin someone’s life even if they are proven to be innocent.

The Ballad of Richard Jewell is expected to begin production this summer with an eye on an early 2020 release date. With that being said, there is a lot of work to be done before production begins, which includes casting. If the project intends to start in a few months, we should get a Clint Eastwood confirmation along with a casting update in the next few months. With that being said, this movie has been close to being made before and it has yet to come into fruition. Maybe Disney and Eastwood will be the right combo to get it started this time. The Ballad of Richard Jewell news was first reported by Deadline.

Seth Rogen & Charlize Theron Strike Comedic Gold

[ad_1]

Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron strike comedic gold in the hilarious romcom, Long Shot. The tired premise of a goofy nerd winning the heart of a beautiful woman gets a brilliant new take. The film is an old-fashioned romance with a heavy sprinkling of raunchy fun and vulgarity. It also satirizes our divided political climate with cleverer than expected insights. Long Shot is the comedy to beat at this summer’s box office.

Seth Rogen stars as Fred Flarsky, an uber liberal investigative journalist at a Brooklyn newspaper. He takes more than a few lumps getting his hard-hitting exposés. Fred prides himself on holding truth to power; jabbing a middle finger to big media and the establishment. Fred’s world comes crashing down when his newspaper is sold to a right-wing, Rupert Murdoch-esque (Andy Serkis) tycoon. Fred quits on principle, but is now unemployed and totally broke.

Charlize Theron co-stars as Charlotte Field, the stunningly beautiful and glamorous Secretary of State. Charlotte is a workaholic, every minute of her schedule micromanaged by a pair of doting aides (June Diane Raphael, Ravi Patel). Charlotte has spent her life as a do-gooder and political activist. She desperately wants to become the first female president. Charlotte and Fred spot each other at a high brow event in New York City. She was Fred’s babysitter as a teenager. Charlotte hires Fred to add humor to her speeches. His lifelong love for a seemingly unreachable woman is finally given a chance.

Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron have fantastic chemistry. Long Shot, though similar in premise, is not Knocked Up redux. The lead characters complete each other in genuine ways. Charlotte is a brilliant stateswoman and politician, but is confined by the rigidity of her work. She’s desperate for humor, warmth, and true companionship. Fred is so judgemental in his world views, he needed someone sophisticated to challenge him. Charlotte is obviously gorgeous, any heterosexual man with a pulse would lust after her. A subplot has the pretty boy Canadian Prime Minister (Alexander Skarsgård) challenging for Charlotte’s affections. The disparity between he and Fred shows Charlotte’s honest realization about her needs. The result is an endearing romance between two well defined characters.

Long Shot wouldn’t be a Seth Rogen movie without marijuana. Fred is an unabashed recreational drug user. His pill popping and weed smoking is on full display throughout. Most of these scenes are laugh out loud funny. Then there’s the coarse language and sex. Long Shot doesn’t have nudity, but earns its R-rating with adult situations. Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron have several memorable hook-ups. The supporting characters are stupefied that Charlotte and Fred are doing the horizontal tango. Their coming to grips with the romance is a big part of the film’s charm and humor.

I have no doubt that Long Shot will be criticized for promulgating male fantasy. Haters will say that this is another Hollywood film where a spectacular woman falls for a schlubby guy. It’s true we rarely see the reverse situation, but don’t let a preconception ruin the joy of Long Shot. Fred’s character is very likeable, experiences tremendous personal growth, and is staunchly supportive of Charlotte. It’s understandable and relatable why Charlotte falls for him. Long Shot will warm your heart and tickle your funny bone. It is produced by Summit Entertainment and distributed by Lionsgate.

Stan Lee Documentary Is Coming from Avengers: Endgame Directors

[ad_1]

The directors behind Avengers: Endgame are working on a Stan Lee documentary. Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, the filmmaking duo behind movies such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War and the upcoming follow-up to that movie, have become an incredibly important pillar of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They also happened to get quite close to Stan Lee over the years, and now they’ve decided to show their love to the late icon with their latest project.

Joe Russo and Anthony Russo have been making the press rounds as of late to promote the release of Avengers: Endgame, which finally hits theaters next week. They’ve been having to dodge questions left and right, as to not spoil the movie. But they recently revealed that they are working on a documentary project that will honor Marvel legend Stan Lee. Here’s what Anthony Russo had to say about it.

“We love Stan Lee and I think it’s incredibly special that Endgame will be his final cameo. We are fascinated by the life of Stan Lee and we are actually developing a little something that has to do with his work in the history of Marvel. But we are not ready to present it or talk about it yet. It’s more of a documentary.”

That’s vague but potentially very exciting. Stan Lee is synonymous with the name Marvel. He co-created some of the most enduring characters in pop culture, alongside artists such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, like Spider-Man, the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man, Black Panther and near countless others. Lee also was the public face of Marvel for many years, even before the movies took off and made the name one of the most recognizable in all of pop culture.

He also influenced a generation of creatives, such as the Russo brothers, who are working today. Sadly, Stan Lee passed away last November. As Anthony Russo mentions, Avengers: Endgame will feature Lee’s final cameo, which only adds to the importance of the movie. It only makes sense that Marvel Studios would want to make a documentary to honor Lee’s life. And why not have the Russos do it? They’ve done a lot for the MCU and clearly have a great understanding and love for Lee’s characters.

For now, it’s anyone’s guess what form this documentary project will take. Could this be a docuseries for the Disney+ streaming service? Will it be an extended documentary feature on the Avengers: Endgame Blu-ray when that ultimately gets released? Will it be a standalone, feature-length movie? All we can do is hopelessly speculate. Whatever this project ends up being, it seems to be in very good, capable and caring hands. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as further details on the project are made available. Will Smith & Martin Lawrence Celebrate as Bad Boys for Life Wraps

[ad_1]

That’s a wrap! Bad Boys for Life has officially wrapped filming, with stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence confirming the news, while taking some time to celebrate. It’s been nearly 25 years since the original entry in this franchise first hit theaters, and this sequel has been in the works for a very long time. After a great many speed bumps, several different filmmakers and quite a few false starts, the next installment is finally in the can.

Will Smith took to Instagram to confirm that filming on Bad Boys 3 has officially finished. The actor shared an image of himself alongside his co-star and friend Martin Lawrence. The pair are sitting in folding chairs, umbrellas in hand, for shade, with Mexico serving as the backdrop behind them. Smith had this to say in the caption provided with the photo.

“That’s a Wrap! Bad Boys For Life, Ciudad de México. Now hand me a Margarita and a pack of tropical fruit bubblicious.”

Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey haven’t been together on screen together since 2003’s Bad Boys 2. So this is long overdue. Bad Boys for Life will see the duo teaming up once again to take on a deadly drug cartel after Mike gets on their radar in a bad way, putting his life in danger. Martin Lawrence shared the same photo to his Twitter account and also confirmed that filming has wrapped.

“Bad Boys. It’s a wrap! #teammartymar #badboysforlife #history”

This franchise originated with Michael Bay in 1995. The director helmed the first two installments of the franchise, yet he did not return for this one. Not even as a producer, as far as we know. He’s currently working on 6 Underground for Netflix. Instead, the up-and-coming duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were tapped to direct the long-gestating project after several different filmmakers had spent time developing the project over the years. Joe Carnahan (The Grey) most notably spent a good deal of time on a version of the movie that never came to pass. The cast also includes Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Joe Pantoliano, Charles Melton, Kate del Castillo, DJ Khaled, Happy Anderson, and Paola Nunez.

Michael Bay’s first two installments were a slightly mixed bag, in some ways. The first movie was a major hit, bringing in $141 million worldwide at the box office, working from a comparatively small $19 million budget. Bad Boys 2, meanwhile, is celebrated for its insane action and made $273 million. Though, it cost much more to produce at $130 million. Still, the demand has been there for some time from certain moviegoers who want to see another team-up with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. They’re going to get their wish when Bad Boys for Life hits theaters on January 17, 2020. Be sure to check out the posts from Martin Lawrence’s Twitter and Will Smith’s Instagram below.

Endgame TV Spot Will Get You Pumped for the Event of the Summer

[ad_1]

Marvel has gifted us with yet another new Avengers: Endgame TV spot heading into the weekend. The final countdown for hardcore Marvel Cinematic Universe fans is here. We have a week, or just under a week for those who are seeing it Thursday night, before the highly-anticipated follow-up to Infinity War finally arrives. Now, we have a brand new TV spot that not only comes with a bit of new action-packed footage, but it’s also positioning this movie as the official start of summer, even though that’s still technically a couple of months away.

For the most part, this TV spot is just cramming in as many cool shots as it possibly can in 30 seconds. It succeeds on that level, to be sure. But there are some new little bits for fans to look out for, such as little bit of dialogue from Tony, Ant-Man literally being flicked like a bug into action and some Captain Marvel goodness. It all leads up to the remaining heroes coming face to face once again with the Mad Titan, which is sort of being positioned as a climactic moment ever since the first full-length trailer hit.

But is that really going to be the climax? Is it going to be that simple? Marvel has done a lot to keep this movie secretive and directors Joe and Anthony Russo have even admitted to putting misleading footage in the main trailer. Why go through all of that trouble if the endgame, as it were, really is just their second match with Thanos? Granted, fans need to see that happen, but if I were a betting man, I’d say there’s going to be more going on here than what it seems to be on the surface. No doubt, the gang is going to duke it out with Thanos again. But just don’t be surprising if Marvel and the Russos throw us a huge curveball or two in there.

The MCU started out 11 years ago, somewhat humbly, with Iron Man. It’s since evolved into a pop culture phenomenon that has, in many ways, reshaped Hollywood, spanning 22 movies and generating $18.5 billion at the box office. While the MCU will continue, this is being billed as a conclusion of sorts to everything that came before. While so much remains a mystery, it’s quite clear that nothing is going to be the same once the events of Avengers: Endgame wrap up.

Pre-sale tickets are available now for anyone who wants to go see the movie on opening weekend. They’ve been selling at record rates and theaters all across the country are adding more and more showtimes as needed. That said, if you don’t already have tickets for opening night showings, don’t wait, because records will be broken and you don’t want to be that fan left out in the cold trying desperately to avoid spoilers. Avengers: Endgame is set to hit theaters on April 26. Be sure to check out the new TV spot from the Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel below.

A Bland Horror Flick with No Character

[ad_1]

The latest addition to the Conjuring franchise, The Curse of La Llorona, is honestly nothing special. While there is nothing inherently bad about this particular horror flick, there’s not really much good in it either.

The movie relies heavily on cliche horror movie tropes, while not really managing to do anything original. This includes characters refusing to ever turn on the lights when they’re investigating a noise in their house, and not communicating anything to one another, resulting in the characters getting themselves caught in similarly terrifying situations that ultimately could have been avoided.

The entire second half of the movie even feels like a complete knock off of the original Poltergeist, with the characters seemingly being trapped in their own house in order to stop the spirit haunting them. The annoying thing about this aspect is that the movie had already pointed out that their house had nothing to do with the haunting, and that they could have gone anywhere to fight the spirit, including somewhere much more convenient than their house that had an abundance of hallways and a pool in the backyard that would be perfect for drowning, which was La Llorona’s preferred way of killing people.

The real issue of The Curse of La Llorona was that, even though it basically copied some of the classic horror movies like Poltergeist, it forgot to copy the most important aspects of those movies: their characters. In theory, The Curse of La Llorona could have been a fantastic horror movie if it included characters that we could have connected to. Unfortunately, the only real characteristic that existed for the movie’s protagonist Anna (Linda Cardellini) was that she was a caring mother who wanted to protect her kids.

Outside of that, she didn’t have much, besides grieving her husband and working for CPS, which were both traits that were completely absent for the second half of the movie. The two kids in the movie didn’t have many characteristics either, outside of the girl always wanting her doll and the boy keeping an eye out for his sister.

The Curse of La Llorona really did have a lot of wasted potential, sadly, with many moments that could have been great if they expanded upon them. For example, about halfway through the movie, a super ironic and compelling subplot was introduced that connected directly to Anna when her coworker from CPS and her romantic interest, a cop, showed up at her door to investigate her for abusing her kids.

This drew a direct parallel to Anna’s investigation at the beginning of the movie, feeling incredibly ironic and unnerving. However, this subplot led to absolutely nothing, with neither of the characters returning again for the rest of the movie and nothing being resolved between this fracture between Anna and her romantic interest.

While The Curse of La Llorona may be a step up from a few of the other recent movies in the Conjuring universe, it still lacks the charm and inventiveness that launched this cinematic universe from Warner Bros. Pictures all those years ago. While it definitely does has some of the qualities of horror movies that can keep audience members at the edge of their seat, with a decent amount of scares and other terrifying moments, the lack of character keeps us from actually worrying about the story’s heroes.

Endgame Ending as Best Ever in the MCU

[ad_1]

Marvel fans all around the world are getting ready to finally see Avengers: Endgame next week and, according to Robert Downey Jr., we’re not going to be disappointed. RDJ has been in this universe since the very beginning. He kicked things off in 2008 with Iron Man and the rest is cinematic history at this point. Now, as we approach the conclusion to these first 11 years and 22 movies, the actor isn’t afraid to hype things up a bit.

Robert Downey Jr. and the rest of the cast have been making the press rounds recently to promote the movie. During a recent interview, Downey was speaking about the end of the movie, in a non-spoilery way, and revealed that he feels the final eight minutes of Avengers: Endgame is the best we’ve seen in the MCU to date. Here’s what he had to say about it.

“The last eight minutes of [Avengers: Endgame] are maybe the best eight minutes in the entire history of the whole run of them, in a way, because everyone’s involved. I was delighted. “

There are a few ways to read into that. What does he mean by everyone? Eight minutes seems like a specific number, doesn’t it? In any event, this is encouraging. Even if it’s doubtful that someone like Robert Downey Jr. would say anything bad about what is poised to be one of the biggest movies of all time just ahead of its release.

Speaking a bit further, the actor also shared his praise for directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo. They’ve helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War, in addition to shooting these last two Avengers movies back to back. Downey believes what they pulled off was nothing shy of a miracle and that few others could have managed the way they did.

“Anthony and Joe are about the only two folks that I could imagine, forget just still having the respect of the cast and crew when we were done, but not being either incarcerated or embalmed, or in some other way permanently damaged. Because just the physical and mental stripping of one’s chi that it takes. These are years, and years, and years, and years. They’ve essentially been on a job for six, seven years now. And I love them, and they love the Avengers.”

Marvel has managed to keep this movie incredibly secretive and they haven’t even revealed all that much in the marketing campaign so far. Though, someone did leak roughly 20 minutes of footage online somehow that has made it tricky to navigate Reddit and Twitter for some. Still, for most of us, we’re in for a big surprise next weekend. Avengers: Endgame is set to hit theaters on April 26. To check out the full interview clip, click on the video from The Upcoming YouTube channel below.
