While originally stopping for just two weeks, various film productions are going to be grounded for a bit longer than that due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
So it comes as little surprise that many of next year’s biggest films, which were all due to be shooting around about now, are already pushing their film’s planned release dates back.
Variety is reporting that films such as “The Batman,” “The Matrix 4” and “Mission: Impossible 7” will all see their 2021 release dates delayed because productions just won’t have enough time to finish before they were expected to.
At present, many studios are anticipating a mid-May production relaunch, though even that may be optimistic. Other films that hadn’t yet begun shooting meanwhile, such as Sony’s “Uncharted,” will also likely get pushed as cast and crew schedules and availability have been altered by the crisis.
It will be a while yet before you can count on any film’s opening date.
