Daisy Ridley will not be a part of the new Star Wars movie set to launch a trilogy in 2022. The actress confirmed the news during a recent interview. Rian Johnson is currently developing his own trilogy and so are Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Ridley also spoke about her stance on social media and she is never returning to any of the platforms, which she deleted back in 2016 after toxic Star Wars fandom took over her feed and comments section.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy recently spoke about some of the newer characters introduced in the latest trilogy showing up again. She was obviously vague, but did confirm that some of them will return down the line. With that being said, Daisy Ridley isn’t going to be involved in either of the next two trilogies. She explains.

“I think, ’cause Rian always said… if it’s the Rian one… or it’s the guys that did Game of Thrones. I’m not sure. Whichever one it was, they always said it was going to be a separate story. So I’m not, no.”

Rian Johnson’s Star Wars trilogy reportedly won’t be out for quite a long time, but he has always maintained he would be focusing on new characters. The Rise of Skywalker is going to be the final movie in the Skywalker saga, which made being on the set “very emotional” for Daisy Ridley. She also said the movie is incredibly moving. As for what David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are working on, that is believed to be the Knights of the Old Republic. That has yet to be confirmed, but if proven to be true, it will take place way ahead of Rey’s timeline.

Besides talking about The Rise of Skywalker and the upcoming Star Wars trilogies, Daisy Ridley also spoke about social media. The actress famously quit using all platforms back in 2016 after constant attacks for “ruining” the franchise. When asked about ever returning, the actress said she “Cut off like a Skywalker limb,” which sure looks like she won’t ever be returning. She had this to say.

“I honestly think now with social media and stuff…it’s great to have freedom of expression, but I do feel like people think opinions have so much weight. I don’t really think bad vibes should have the sun shone on them. Like, I don’t want to read your thing!”

Daisy Ridley isn’t the only Star Wars star to get out of the social media game. Kelly Marie Tran left after The Last Jedi came out as a result of toxic fandom. Tran has not spoken about coming back, but her answer is more than likely the same has Ridley’s, at least until well after The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters. While we won’t be seeing Ridley and the rest of the crew in the upcoming trilogies, there are still plenty of other places they can show up.

Daisy Ridley also showed up on Jimmy Fallon last night, where she talked a little bit more about the experience of shooting Rise of Skywalker. While Daisy Ridley says the ending of The Rise of Skywalker was “epic,” the production coming to a close was pretty tough for the actress. “I was an embarrassment. I couldn’t remember a thing,” she said. “Everybody had to do like a wrap speech and John wrapped just before me, and I was like, ‘Oh, oh no,'” recalls Ridley when talking about the day production wrapped. Ridley has been working within the Star Wars franchise since 2015, so one can easily see why she, and the rest of the crew, would be emotional.
