First Birds of Prey Poster Teases the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn
The first poster for Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey has been revealed. Warner Bros. hasn’t officially released the poster online yet. However, they do have a showcase at CineEurope, which is happening as we speak. Posters for many of their biggest upcoming movies are out on the showroom floor and it’s there where people attending the show noticed the poster for the upcoming female-driven DC Comics adaptation on display. Unfortunately, it doesn’t give us a whole lot to chew on.
Instead of showcasing the movie’s main characters, such as Harley Quinn, Huntress or Black Canary, this first poster goes the more simple route. Its white lettering featuring the movie’s title, set against a black background, with little symbols, such as an arrow, what appears to be Harley’s signature mallet and a knife, encased within the text. The movie’s lengthy subtitle, “And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn” is off to the side in bright pink lettering, with a spray-painted, street art style to it. There are additional touches of pink here and there, but overall, it’s a very simple poster.
Warner Bros. also showcased a bit of footage from director Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn) at CineEurope, but it hasn’t made its way online. With the movie set to arrive early next year, we should be getting some sort of teaser sooner rather than later. Normally, we would assume that would be at San Diego Comic-Con next month. However, it’s already been confirmed that Warner Bros. will not be showcasing in Hall H this year, so we can pretty much rule that out. With that in mind, it’s still expected a teaser will be online by summer’s end. We did get a first look video around the time the movie went into production that introduced all of the characters, showing us quick flashes of Margot Robbie and her cohorts.

Birds of Prey will center on Harley Quinn, Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell). They will be tasked with taking on Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) in Gotham City, where Batman will be notably absent. The trio will need to protect Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), one of the figures in the pages of DC Comics who eventually takes up the mantle of Batgirl. While it’s not clear how she’ll factor into the plot, we also know that Rosie Perez is set to star as Renee Montoya, a member of the Gotham City PD. Christina Hodson (Bumblebee) penned the screenplay.
This will be the first time that Margot Robbie has appeared on screen as Harley Quinn since 2016′ commercially successful (yet critically panned) Suicide Squad. The difference here is that the movie will be much smaller in scale, as it was recently reported that it will carry a budget of just $75 million, the lowest of any DCEU movie so far. Robbie also recently promised that the movie will be R-rated. Birds of Prey is set to arrive in theaters on February 7, 2020. Be sure to check out the new poster from Warner Bros. for yourself below.
