In some surprising good news, it seems “Lucifer” could continue to live on.
The Tom Ellis-led series was famously cancelled by FOX at the end of its third season, with streaming giant Netflix picking up the series for a ten-episode fourth season which aired May last year.
Later they picked the show up again for a sixteen episode fifth season which sadly they also announced would be the show’s final run. Fans started a petition to save the series for another season, but co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich said those efforts wouldn’t help.
Now, TVLine reports that in an unexpected turn of events Netflix doesn’t want to ditch the series just yet and is currently in talks with Warner Bros. TV to extend the show for a sixth season.
The fifth season, which sees Dennis Haysbert joining the cast in the role of God, hasn’t aired yet with Netflix splitting the season into two eight-episode parts.
Those involved are currently at work on the final weeks of production on the last few episodes of the fifth season, which is why these talks are reportedly happening now.
