Marvel Boss Confirms Keanu Reeves Talks, They Just Need the Right Fit
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirms the Keanu Reeves casting talks. Feige is out doing promotion for Spider-Man: Far From Home, which hits theaters in just a few weeks, and was asked about the current most famous man in the entertainment industry. Reeves is seemingly everywhere at the moment with John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum still making money at the box office, his upcoming role as Duke Caboom in Toy Story 4, a cameo in Always Be My Maybe, and starting production on the long awaited Bill & Ted 3. All of this seems to have created a perfect storm for the actor. This doesn’t even include the nice deeds he does away from the camera.
Keanu Reeves has not been shy when asked about getting on board to do another comic book movie. Constantine didn’t work out so well at the box office, but he’d still love to return for a sequel. He has also expressed interest in playing Wolverine. A new rumor has been making the rounds stating that Reeves is joining the cast of The Eternals, which has yet to be confirmed. With that being said, Kevin Feige confirms Marvel Studios has been in contact with Reeves. Kevin Feige explains.
“We talk to him for almost every film we make… We talk to Keanu Reeves about… I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”
Kevin Feige did not confirm nor deny The Eternals rumors, so we could end up seeing Keanu Reeves in the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon. But, is that the right fit for Reeves? When checking out what Feige had to say about wanting to work with Reeves, it would be very interesting to see what roles he was originally considered for when certain projects were in development. We do know he was considered for the Yon-Rogg role in Captain Marvel, but he allegedly could not fit it into his busy schedule.
The Yon-Rogg role ended up going to Jude Law, who did a fine job in the movie. Keanu Reeves has praised the MCU many times in the past and the feeling appears to be mutual, making a future project almost inevitable at this point in time. There is a lot to look forward to in the MCU’s mysterious upcoming Phase 4 and Kevin Feige will give us an official update this summer at San Diego Comic-Con and D23.

In the same interview, Kevin Feige admitted that the studio had also talked with Jake Gyllenhaal multiple times before finding the perfect fit for him as Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Before that, there had been numerous rumors about Gyllenhaal jumping on board the MCU, just like Keanu Reeves. For now, we’re all just going to have to wait and see what the future holds for Reeves and the MCU, but the future does seem to be pretty bright. The interview with Feige was originally conducted by Comic Book.
