“Rocketman” star Taron Egerton has been named as the person on the receiving end of the worst snub for acting recognition in this year’s Oscar nominations list according to a new Fandango poll.

The movie ticketing service asked its users for their reactions to yesterday’s nominations and what they consider the biggest snubs. Egerton, who just won a Golden Globe for his performance, came in first – just ahead of Awkwafina in “The Farewell,” Lupita Nyong’o in “Us,” Adam Sandler in “Uncut Gems” and Jennifer Lopez in “Hustlers”. Former “Hannibal” star Mads Mikkelsen will lead the cast of Scandi pic “Riders Of Justice” which hails from Oscar-Winning Danish filmmaker Anders Thomas Jensen. The story follows Markus, who has to go home to his teenage daughter, Mathilde, when his wife dies in a tragic train accident. Following their work together on the upcoming “Enola Holmes,” director Harry Bradbeer and writer Jack Thorne will re-team for “Seance on a Wet Afternoon” – an adaptation of Mark McShane’s acclaimed 1961 suspense novel at Legendary.

The story will follow a medium who convinces her husband to kidnap a child so she can help the police solve the crime and achieve renown for her abilities. When her true intentions come to light, however, her husband realizes the plan threatens to consume them both. [Source: THR]

The Invisible Man
Leigh Whannell’s new film take on H.G. Wells’ “The Invisible Man” has been granted an R rating by the MPAA for “some strong bloody violence, and language”. Universal Studios and Blumhouse will release the film, which co-stars Elisabeth Moss, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Harriet Dyer, Aldis Hodge and Storm Reid, on February 28th. [Source: Bloody Disgusting]

Melanie Laurent (“Galveston”) is set to write and direct the period thriller “The Mad Women’s Ball” based on the award-wining novel by Victoria Mas. Axelle Boucai will produce. The story takes place at the end of the 19th century in Paris, a time when women deemed too rebellious or difficult were frequently institutionalized.
