A24 has indefinitely delayed the theatrical debut of Rose Glass’ psychological horror feature “Saint Maud” amidst global cinema shutdowns. Morfydd Clark, Jennifer Ehle, Lily Knight and Lily Frazer co-star.
The film made its debut at Toronto in September to rave reviews and follows a newly devout hospice nurse who becomes obsessed with saving her dying patient’s soul – but sinister forces, and her own sinful past, threaten to put an end to her holy calling. [Source: A24]
Disney+ has officially launched in much of western Europe and the service has done very well. The Disney+ official app was reportedly downloaded 5 million times on March 24th alone in Europe according to measurement and analytics firm App Annie.
Their data reportedly doesn’t cover connected-TV apps or access to the Disney+ official site. Additionally, analytics firm Antenna reports that the number of Disney+ signups in the U.S. in the week ending March 20th was more than triple those from the prior week. [Source: Forbes]
Cleveland O’Neal III, creator and producer of the syndicated daytime series “Made in Hollywood,” has been revealed as the new owner of Moviefone which his holding company Born in Cleveland LLC picked up for $1 million in a bankruptcy auction last week. O’Neal plans to retain Moviefone’s current staff and evaluate future hires.
O’Neal initially had preferred to remain anonymous but is now announcing his purchase of the movie-listing and entertainment site saying the integration of his TV assets and Moviefone’s are a “perfect marriage” and a “360 solution for our advertising, studio, broadcast and streaming partners across multiple platforms”. VFX house Scanline VFX Studios has announced that their entire staff is currently working remotely on Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” film among others, re-assuring people the film is still being worked on in some capacity. Right now though it’s is unclear if the film is going to be able to meet its planned November release, as a long post-production period has been slowed down due to the viral pandemic. [Source: CBM]
