Why Ant-Man Vs. Thanos Theory Definitely Wouldn’t Work According to Endgame Writer
Avengers: Endgame co-writer Christopher Markus believes Ant-Man would die in Thanos’ butt. The grossest Endgame theory can now be finally put to rest. When the movie was first being promoted and everybody knew Scott Lang would be joining Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, one fan decided he had figured it all out. The movie would only have to be a few seconds long as Lang shrinks down and enters Thanos through his anal cavity. From there, he expands, ripping The Mad Titan apart from the inside. The theory started to gain attention and was affectionately dubbed “Thanus.”
Obviously, Thanos was not defeated that way in Avengers: Endgame. Had Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely pitched “Thanus” to Marvel Studios, they would have been kicked out of Kevin Feige’s office pretty quickly. With that being said, Markus doesn’t think the theory holds any water to begin with. He explains.
“Thanos could take a punch from the Hulk, we’ve seen that. And it stands to reason his whole body is at least as strong as that. If Ant-Man expanded, he would be simply crushed against the immovable walls of Thanos’ mighty rectum.”
It’s pretty amazing that in 2019, we can hear the screenwriter of the second highest grossing movie of all time discuss a super villain’s butt. It doesn’t stop there either. Avengers: Endgame directors the Russo Brothers are fans of the theory and have addressed it. Even astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson weighed in on the theory and while he thought it was rather gross, he still discussed it and went even further into the Mad Titan’s bowel movements.
Neil deGrasse Tyson’s biggest point, however, was that Ant-Man should use something else, which makes complete sense. Why use your body when you could have used an inanimate object? Avengers: Endgame could have ended up like a really bad version of Innerspace, but thankfully, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely had other ideas. The writers recently revealed Marvel Studios was unsure of the five-year time jump, but later came around to the idea. If they were curious about the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, there’s no way they would have gone for the “Thanus” theory.

Hopefully, we can finally lay “Thanus” to rest. It really does not need to be discussed any further and we should now have the final word on the subject. But, things never go away on the internet and this theory will probably never die. We can only hope that it just slowly starts to fade away until at least Avengers: Endgame comes out on Blu-ray. We shouldn’t have to talk about The Mad Titan’s mighty rectum or his evil bowel movements any more. Maybe we can get Josh Brolin and Paul Rudd to remake Innerspace thought. That might actually be a good idea, minus the butt stuff. The interview with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely was originally conducted by Empire.
