In a few short weeks, the newest adventure of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will kick off as director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters this July. And while there have already been more than a handful of rumors surrounding who will be joining Peter Parker in Spider-Man 3, today we have another sidekick for the pile. This addition comes to us in the form of a wish from Holland himself, who wants to team Spider-Man with Benedict Cumberbatch’s sorcerer supreme, Doctor Stephen Strange from director Scott Derrickson’s aptly titled MCU movie Doctor Strange.

Tom Holland says this.

“I’m really wanting to do a team-up with Doctor Strange because we’re both New Yorkers and I just really like the idea of a science guy being teamed up with a guy who does magic because it totally contradicts everything he knows. And I like the idea that there is real science that Peter Parker talks about, and then there’s Doctor Strange gibberish, where he’s like ‘The time rift and the thing and the thing.’ So it’s kind of fun.”

Now while other such characters as Venom and Deadpool have been mentioned to (hopefully) meet up with Spider-Man in the possible third entry, I don’t know about you, but I think Spidey and Strange would be a match made in Heaven. After all, the side plot of Iron Man, Peter Parker, and Doctor Strange in space was hands down the most consistently entertaining stretch contained within the Russo Brothers mega-hit Avengers: Infinity War.

Plus it would surely be one of the best ways to help out the Doctor Strange franchise. I mean sure the movie has its share of fans and a solid 89% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes, but for the most part, the first Doctor Strange failed to make much of a dent in the MCU. The film’s domestic haul of $232.6 million back in 2016 is nothing to snicker at, but in the realms of the MCU, $232.6 million domestic was only enough to snag Doctor Strange the 16th spot on the list of all 22 official movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For the record, the MCU movies that Doctor Strange bested at the box-office were Ant-Man and the Wasp ($216.6 million), Thor: The Dark World ($206.3 million), Thor ($181 million), Ant-Man ($180.2 million), Captain America: The First Avenger ($176.6 million), and The Incredible Hulk ($134.8 million).

Hopefully, this Spidey/Strange spin-off comes to fruition, but until then, remember that Spider-Man returns next month in Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts’ much-anticipated sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home. The movie is all set for Tom Holland to co-star with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones, Jon Favreau as Harold “Happy” Hogan, Jacob Batalon as Peter’s best friend, Ned, Martin Starr as Mr. Harrington, Marisa Tomei as “aunt” May Parker, and Jake Gyllenhaal as Quentin Beck / Mysterio. Watts directs Spider-Man: Far From Home from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers based on Spider-Man by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are the movie’s producers. This story comes to us via Cinema Blend .
